City & Nature
Once we head to Aventuras Arenal’s facilities in Bebedero town, the river of the same name will serve as our way of cruising. Here we’ll observe Palo Verde’s wildlife in a pontoon boat on a journey which will last about 2½ hours. Palo Verde National Park is a magnificent stage to discover mother nature’s beauty. It’s the largest protected area in Guanacaste and is home to about 300 different bird species, 600 species of plants particular from the dry forest, reptiles and some mammals such as howler and spider monkeys.
After having a delicious traditional lunch in Bebedero, the next stop is at the beautiful “Llanos de Cortés” Waterfall. A short hike leads to an oasis surrounded by a dense jungle where water falls, forming a wide curtain as if in a natural roofless theater. Here, you can swim in the refreshing waters or chill and enjoy the impressive view.
The last part of the tour includes a visit to Liberia, one of Guanacaste’s most prominent & largest settlements with the most typical buildings still up since almost a century ago. These constructions are mainly relics from the colony which maintain their look among the newest buildings with completely different architectural styles. Some examples are the over 150 years old Agony Church and the elegant “Calle Real.”
